Krka National Park lies within Šibenik-Knin County, and covers a total area of 109 km² of the loveliest sections of the Krka River, and the lower course of the Čikola River.
The national park is a vast and primarily unaltered area of exceptional natural value, including one or more preserved or insignificantly altered ecosystems. Including the submerged part of the river at the mouth, the Krka River is 72.5 km long, making it the 22nd longest river in Croatia. It springs in the foothills of the Dinara mountain range, 2.5 km northeast of Knin. With its seven waterfalls and a total drop in altitude of 242 m, the Krka is a natural and karst phenomenon. The travertine waterfalls of the Krka River are the fundamental phenomenon of this river.
… is the seventh, final, and longest travertine barrier on the Krka River. It is located approximately 13 kilometers downstream from Roški slap and a total of 49 kilometers downstream from the source. The growth of travertine barriers at Skradinski buk was caused by the unification of the waters of Krka River with the three kilometer lower current of the Čikola River at Roški slap, creating one of the most unusual and beautiful landscapes of the Krka National Park
Visovac Island is among Croatia’s most valuable natural and cultural sites.
The Franciscan Monastery of Our Lady of Mercy, and the Church of Our Lady of Visovac, have stood here since 1445. With their magnificent grounds, they form a unique entity.
The monastery houses a valuable archaeological collection, a collection of historical church linens and dishes and a rich library, with several historical manuscripts, valuable books and incunabula. Due to the centuries of worship of the Mother of God, this island is often called Our Lady’s Island.

… is also called the ‘vast waterfall’, and is made up of a 22.5 m high main waterfall and countless backwaters, cascades and travertine islands.
Roški slap is situated about 36 km downstream of the Krka River spring. The start of the barrier is made up of a series of small cascades (called the ‘necklace’ by the locals), followed by numerous backwaters and islets. Between Roški waterfall and Oziđana pećina cave there are 517 wooden steps, one old roman road and numerous old watermills.
